My 7-year old has adored the How to Train Your Dragon series, but two chapters in, we're finding Book 8 a bit dark and heavy. We've put it aside and will try and pick it up in a few years' time. Has anyone else experienced this?

We made it through the whole book but had to stop a couple of times and put things into perspective. I wonder if Cowell is upping the darkness as Hiccup grows up, as J.K. Rowling did in the Harry Potter series. (less)
