I see 15 people classify this as xtian fiction. Is the religious aspect heavy-handed? By that I mean, if a person wasn't spiritual or a xtian, could they enjoy it? Some xtian books are kind of preachy. I've read one Goudge book, Linnets and Valerians, and enjoyed it a lot.
