I was wondering why it didn't take a bigger look at the system, but this was a time where a cop could get with almost anything--he wanted to illustrate how insane and evil it is that Fred Hampton could be shot while sleeping and really just not moving. They set up a gattling gun outside his door and shot him multiple times. The banality of it is what Haas wanted to portray, like now with George Floyd and the Minneapolis Police. If you listen to that tape, he died screaming for his mother.(less)
