Hitler is theorized to have escaped the Allies into Southern America (or any other country that could have possibly not been involved heavily in the war) and died somewhere other than his bunker. Now, dealing with the USSR, they did not have very much of a high opinion of Stalin (particularly the citizens) and the only "brainwashing" that they have occurred would have been within the military itself. This, however, wouldn't be brainwashing as much as it would be closer to bribery, like a promise of food (if it was fulfilled) and the promise for safety (which the soldiers were still executed by Stalin's command.)
