Is Unity a sequel to the Avatar books, and Rising Son by the same author or does it stand alone? or in other words are all of S.D. Perry's novels that follow the last episode of the series directly connected in a sequence or are they each an independent follow up that tells a different story? I really want to read a story that deals with Benjamin's return but I"m wondering if I need to read the others first?

Donald Hi Jen the Avatar books are thought of as DS9 Season 8 and make more sense when you read the series in order I would say that you could skip ahead to …moreHi Jen the Avatar books are thought of as DS9 Season 8 and make more sense when you read the series in order I would say that you could skip ahead to Unity but a number of plot threads are covered in this book - to be honest I would read the earlier ones to get the full story especially around Bajor's admittance to the Federation and the fallout of a certain event but you should be ok to read this on it's own.
