Does this book count as a true crime? I read that it was based on some crimes in Richmond in the summer of 1987.

Sheryl Shealey This is not true crime, she was inspired to write the book by the crimes that occurred in 1987 but her characters and details are fictional.

On p. 82 (chapter 5) Benton Wesley says: "Take Gacy. We've got no idea how many people he murdered. Thirty-three kids. Possibly it was hundreds. Strangers, all of them strangers to him. Then he does his mother and stuffs pieces of her down the garbage disposal...." Except John Wayne Gacy didn't kill his mother. She died a natural death when he was in prison. Explanation?

I read this book and it was fine. I was about to start reading the whole series and remembered about a year ago I started a series of mysteries and was disappointed to discover that each story was about a serial killer. I was very disappointed and quit the series. MY QUESTION: Are all the Scarpetta books about serial killers? I can't remember which series it was that I quit.
