Is it necessary to have read all the previous books in this series to read this one? I was given this book by a friend who was moving out of state and didn't want it anymore and I would like to read it but I don't know if I want to read all 12 books preceding this one.

The author adds in just enough background information to get you up to speed. Try listening to one - even better.

Why Was Benton Wesley EVER brought back into the series after being killed off? Nothing said about his disappearance, where he has been, why his absence for so long, nothing. And everybody is supposed to go on with their lives as if it never happened. RIDICULOUS

Both Jay and Jean Baptiste Chandonne are dead. So is Bev Kiffin. Benton decided it was safe to come back from hiding even though the Chandonne family is still alive in France.
