I notice this book is listed as one of the "Best Feminist Young Adult Books." How is this book/series feminist? (I ask because I have a decided weakness for genuinely feminist young adult fantasy books that are NOT urban or contemporary.)

- Although many of the characters are male (including the protagonist), the women play roles NO LESS important
- But the women go about their duties not to prove anything for their gender, but simply to fulfill their responsibilities
- The uncontested ruler of lesser gods is a goddess named Hephestia
- There is no one ideal representation of women in any of the female characters; they are unique, flawed and beautiful in their own ways

Eden Linford Hmmm, unless we will hear of his fate in the new Return of the Thief this year, it never says exactly what happened to him. I speculate that he stays …moreHmmm, unless we will hear of his fate in the new Return of the Thief this year, it never says exactly what happened to him. I speculate that he stays imprisoned in Sounis for several years and then is banished to another country or the outlying regions of Sounis. When Ion asks Sophos what his fate will be, Sounis replies that he will be imprisoned not forever, but for a good while.(less)
