Inna It is all her own invention, but it is very loosely based on folklore tropes and motifs — such as old scary women, findlings etc.

Did Ludmilla Petrushevskaya write a short story about a woman trying to seduce a plumber into making a service call? Would have been published around 1986, in a San Francisco newspaper. I read it and always regretted not keeping a copy.
