Hi, Just got my hands on this book as a gift from a friend of mine. I saw that it is part of a series from Ed McBain, so I wanted to ask if I can read it (in a sense of can I understand it properly) without reading the predecessors of this series? Or maybe it is a fiction story of its own? Thanks!

The first I read was probably about the 20th and the next few were situated here and there until after about half a dozen I figured I should start at the beginning and read the rest in order! So I did and I'm almost at the end - this is my next and then there's not many to go. Some are better than others but I've enjoyed reading them. Hope you enjoy it.(less)
