My mom's a voracious reader. Biographies, mysteries, legal thrillers, historical fiction epics, etc. She's quite spry & healthy, but she IS 91! Still in her house, she's currently looking into various senior communities. Will this book amuse her or depress her? Is it an appropriate gift for someone in their "final chapter" of life? (She has a pretty good sense of humor and is an optimistic person.)

For your mom I would suggest Driving Miss Norma which is nonfiction and a feel good story. Or for a fun mystery story, I would recommend The Thursday Murder Club. The setting is in a retirement community with sharp and witty members of the club. Book club loved it.(less)
