The Smokey Barrett series is one of the absolute finest in thriller fiction, it has been 6 years!! I see that #5 is available in German, is there any word if it will ever release in the US. if you need a publisher in the US, I am managing partner of a small genre driven press. Do I need to read the other books (#1-3) before this one or can I just start with this one?

Maria Elmvang Definitely read them in order. While the crime plot lines are nicely closed off in each book, there is enough information about the characters' person…moreDefinitely read them in order. While the crime plot lines are nicely closed off in each book, there is enough information about the characters' personal lives, their backgrounds and motivations that won't make much sense if read out of order.

And I agree with Lisa - they are well worth your time. But read the first one, and decide for yourself :)(less)
