I am half way through the book, having tired of the lamentations regarding lost love, I am having trouble finishing the book. Any thoughts?

I began the book before landing in Istanbul, trying to get through as many of the 700+ pages possible. Once in Istanbul, lodged in a splendid Airbnb at the base of the Galata Tower, I felt I knew Istanbul! My goal was to go to the actual Museum, which I did with the help of deft taxi drivers who knew the tiny streets on the hill...what an experience! I think it is a great book. But then I love Proust as well?

What is the point of this book? What was Pamuk trying to say? After I was through one-third of the doorstopper the protagonist asked himself if the dear reader grew tired of his lamentations, and I was at once alert and mentally crying out 'yes, yes, finally, he has got it!!! I AM sick and tired' And what do you know, he just kept carrying on with his sickly obsession for another couple of hundred pages.

I found the the description of slaughtering the lamb very disconcerting, being a vegan and an animal lover, I found it abhorrent, just couldn’t stomach it, I have just started the book, are they more of such descriptions?

Hi. It is shame that you asked me for my views in the middle of the book. Frankly speaking I had that opinion up to the middle of the book. Can you tell me as to could not you wait till I could complete it.? However in last chapter when Kemal was in Milan and saw Gul, he rushed shouting after her calling her Sibel, are you Siblel. This was the climax of this novel. The scene described by the writer made me cry. Sorry.
