I have a little girl who 6 and is going through about looking different. My little girl is bicultural (I am Latina and my husband is African American) and is stunningly beautiful in a way that is different than everyone around her. She has full, thick, natural curls, wears glasses (recent), is taller than most of her friends and stands out always. Any suggestions on books that might help me help her?

Ashely, I haven't read The Skin You Live In. I see you read and discussed it with preschool students. Would it be appropriate for first grade students too? Did you do any activities associated with the book's theme that you can share? Thanks! Bernadette
