I've no idea what people see in this story? The main character is VERY immature, literally thinking like a moody teenager than a grown-up woman. She's got her plan for life, which is brilliant, she is meeting some societal walls, which is normal and unavoidable... but the way she reacts to them, and mostly - the way she's describing all the new parents - made me think I was reading a satire for half of the book.

She never reacts in a bad way to any body - she only might think different things to you in many situations, but what bothers me with your question, is that you assume she describing her feelings is satire.
I guess the book can be read as a little satirical - since the protagonist doesn't feel the need to live the live society' deems normal. But that is the whole point of the book. To show a different perspective on motherhood.(less)
