Despite the overall great ratings, I see some extremely negative reviews on Audible pointing to "politics" being a point of the story. Can someone explain what people are upset about? Probably going to read this no matter what and I don't really care if the comments are about the right or left wing. More just want to know what the fuss is about.

More specifically (MINOR SPOILERS) a key element of the book is how a hostile alien species is attempting to destroy humanity by triggering various terrible events like environmental collapse, economical collapse, social collapse, etc, simultaneously. In the book, most far-right sources are actually alien sock-puppets designed to destabilize society by spreading fake news, increasing social divides, and so forth. There are also plenty of human genocide collaborators (who were promised spots in the safe bunkers) and it's heavily implied that these are far-right personalities and politicians who sold their souls to the alien menace.
