I am about to begin the trilogy and based on the summary of "All the Pretty Horses" I am almost worried I'm about to get into a romance. Is this at all a love story? (Any of the 3 or all of them?)

There are a couple of love interests but they do not dominate the story, or the many storys within the stories. Volume one is especially one of the finest novels you ever will read. Cormac knows a lot about Mexico, the Southwest and a lot about horses and how they are used.(less)

I am looking for a quote, well I could be misquoting, from somewhere in The Border Trilogy? Either John or Billy are looking at the landscape and describe it as - 'a thing exquisite' Any assistance would be appreciated

i read All the Pretty Horses recently. Loved it, but had to skip some of the beating up scenes. Wondering if the second two of the trilogy have as much graphic violence?

My son loved All the Pretty Horses, but couldn't get into The Crossing. Is it important to read them in order? I was going to get him the third in the series, Cities of the Plain.

who else reading this trilogy has read Don Quixote?

Why would McCarthy's editor not noticed the error on the first page and also subsequently, "the mesquite brakes"? Anyone who lives in this area knows it should be "the mesquite breaks"! I almost stopped reading on the first page. Also the "your all" in several conversations should be "you all"! That is the way locals converse.
