Is it possible to read this as a standalone book or would I lack too much information from previous books? I got it as a gift and am wondering if I have to read the other parts first

As such, it is a rich blending of the supernatural plot elements that have been unfolding alongside more quotidian activities, such as they are in Charlie Parker’s dark life. Many mysteries are revealed that reflect upon preceding events.

If this series were compared to a stairway, this book would be a landing to its predecessors. I thoroughly enjoyed it; very satisfying.(less)
