In the combined novels (Star Guard and Star Ranger) published in paperback as Star Soldiers (Baen Publishing, 2001, ISBN:0-7434-3554-0) that I bought much later, he is an Ageraton, so it is not just the Kindle version in which it is changed.

EDIT: I asked the webmaster at Andre-Norton.com this question, and this was the answer I was given:

“This is one of those questions for which I should probably post the answer on the Star Rangers page. For I get asked it a lot. The sad answer is that the editors at BAEN were lazy and let auto correct do a lot of the work. Keep in mind this was 20 years ago and Optical Character Recognition software was much worse than it is today. And if you've read any ebooks today you should see that software still doesn't work very well. When in doubt always go with the Vintage (Original) Norton. Hopes this helps.
