Billy Williams's dialogue is in standard English in this book. Louise Penny seems to have ditched the conceit that Gamache can't understand anything Billy says, which was quite funny in earlier books. I can see how that would be an inconvenience with this plot. But did I miss an explanation for that switch or did it just happen out of the blue?
