The book is rated 13+ by the publisher, and that feels right. There is a kiss, but it is hardly described, and the MC views a mildly sexy scene. There is very little romance; the amount is similar to The Stranded and This Savage Song. It is very YA with the romance, body horror, etc. There is plenty of violence, and the characters are harmed a few times during the book.
