"Theoretically, you can read either book first, though the potential reading orders will both give you a slightly different reading experience. Night is a little longer and more politically complex than Priory, with a larger cast and more settings, so you may find it easiest to build a layer of knowledge with Priory first – but it will mean you have knowledge of the future when you read Night. If you prefer to read in chronological order of events and have no spoilers whatsoever, you may want to jump straight into Night."(less)

I found Priory of the Orange Tree so engaging and I was dying for more. But alas, this fell completely flat for me :( Has anyone else experienced this ? There were too many characters who I found difficult to remember from chapter to chapter, and with very little intrigue to keep momentum building - I just gave up :(

I read Priory a few years ago and have forgotten everything but how much I loved it. (Not uncommon for me.). Can I jump right in to A Day of Fallen Night, or should I go back and reread Priory? Is there a good synopsis of Priory that would refresh my memory? I don't mind rereads, but with so much new to read on my TBR list, I'm hesitant to go back if it's not really necessary. (I do know this is a prequel.) Thanks!

Also, the story in ADOFN happens 500 years before the events in Priory so its not necessary for you to remember everything that happens in Priory. (less)
