Pat Cummings I found it distressing that the movie substituted T.S.'s membership in the Montana Geological Society and his commitment to map the watersheds of the …moreI found it distressing that the movie substituted T.S.'s membership in the Montana Geological Society and his commitment to map the watersheds of the Western States for a single attendance at the end of a physics(?) lecture and a commitment to build a perpetual motion machine. Even so, the movie managed to hit the thematic and philosophic high points of the book with glancing blows, and also left out the baffling "black hole" and Megatherium Society that I felt detracted from the book's story, so it was a wash for me. And Helena Bonham Carter is always a plus...(less)
