It is based on my life and my friends that left the Jehovah's Witness religion. All the situations happened, but it was switched around on some of the characters to protect their identity. I however was SHUNNED and hunted down like a wild animal from the elders of the church. That is a common situation and spiritual basis to the men ran organisation. Women are in subjection to their husband and it is true, if your husband says to quit your job or what you should wear, that is a bible command to this worldwide organisation. The elders do sexual interrogate women and write down sexual details for their files (they do this to children as well and they will consider children "willing participants" in child crimes. I had to also make the content a lighter than what it was in reality, so that the story wasn't overly depressing. Because being raised in JWs is an extremely HARSH religion and those attracted to it are not very good parents. You are not allowed to get a higher education, in fact, if you are an elder and your daughter goes to college, you will be removed as an elder. I have the branch leaked information on this. Children also are being work trafficked in preaching for this brand. I went to an unaccredited JW ran private school when I was young and it wouldn't even give you a high school diploma. You are not allowed extra curricular activities and children are prohibitted from life saving blood transfusions, the list goes on. (less)
