They believe Elizabeth is an incarnation of Quetzalcoatl, an aztec serpent god of creation. They speak to her in Spanish and are shocked that she does not know her own language. They are the first characters to show her any kindness and are likely the catalysts for Elizabeth and Adelaide coming to terms. The drink they give Adelaide is likely ayahuasca.(less)
