Ashley I really disliked the book but forced myself to finish it. I think there was very little story besides the sports aspect. I would not recommend it

The way the matches are called is wrong - she has the umpires saying “Game to Soto” or “Set to Soto” which isn’t how it works in real life. At some point she uses the word draft instead of draw. The worst one was when she had the Wimbledon men’s final in 1995 finishing after 11pm, which would obviously have been impossible as the roof didn’t exist then. It wouldn’t even be possible to finish after 11pm now, due to Wimbledon’s noise control rules. A few weeks before Wimbledon, Carrie and her dad are discussing how in a few weeks “she’s going to be holding a silver plate” - I thought for a second the dad was saying she couldn’t win it, because a silver plate is what the runner up gets. Another thing that slightly bugged me is that Carrie’s 20 grand slams are repeatedly stated to be the most anyone has ever achieved, but late in the book Margaret Court is mentioned - so she and her 24 slams exist in this universe. So yeah, some evidence of negligence in the research, I’d say.(less)
