Dear friends.

Good afternoon, or morning, or evening, depending on the circumstances when this reaches you. As a few readers might have noticed over the years, I'm really not very good at answering questions. At times I receive far more emails and messages than I can handle, and since I try to write novels and also very much enjoy annoying the hell out of my children there's very little time left for me at the end of the day to answer each one. But since a lot of the questions lately have been about the same things, I thought I'd try to answer at least a few of them collectively here today. Or morning. Or whatever.

So: My latest novel is called "Anxious people". It has nothing to do with the "Beartown" series, this is a comedy about a dysfunctional hostage situation that I wrote in between the "Beartown" books. It was published in Scandinavia and a few other countries last year and will be out in the US in September. I don't know the exact publishing dates in other countries but I'll try to update here when I do.

There WILL be a third book in the "Beartown" series. I'm writing it right now, and it will be published in 2021 (beginning with Sweden, and thereafter most other countries where the first two books were published, but I have no idea yet what exact month in each country). The first two books in the series were called "Beartown" and "Us against you". The title of the third book is, roughly translated from swedish, "Those who run towards fire", but I don't know what the exact title will be in each country.

There will be a TV adaption of "Beartown", directed by Peter Grönlund and produced in Swedish for HBO Nordic as a mini series in 5 episodes. It will premiere in the "last quarter of 2020" (that's TV people language for "October, November or December, we'll see...") but I don't know if or when it will be available in countries other than Scandinavia. As soon as I do I'll share that information here.

"Anxious People" is also being adapted into a TV series, by the swedish production company FLX for Netflix. I don't have any more details about it right now, but as soon as I do I'll let you know.

I don't have any Beartown shirts or other merchandise to sell. I get...well...a LOT of emails about them and I'm really sorry, but they've all been given away at this point. Hopefully I'll be able to make some more further down the line and hand out at events and signings, but I haven't been able to set up a web shop (as some of you've been requesting) since I really don't have the time. (I don't even have time to answer emails so I'd be a pretty horrible web shop guy...)

I won't do a lot of touring abroad this year, I'm sorry. I've had a hard time travelling because of stress related health issues and I'm focusing on staying at home writing and annoying my kids.

I will, however, probably do a book tour in the US this fall, when "Anxious people" comes out in September. I don't have the dates yet and I don't know what cities I'll be in. (And I'm not really in charge of any of it, it turns out I'm astonishingly bad at American geography, so to be totally honest there's not really any great point in emailing me requests.) I'll update here with all the dates and places several times as soon as they've been determined.

Regarding the TV and movie adaptations of my other novels there are a few projects in the works. When I have release dates I'll share them here, but as long as they are just in production or preparation phases I won't talk a lot about them since I want to leave the good people working on them alone. I'm not involved in any of the TV or film projects, my wife and our agent handles all of that. I have no influence over casting choices or anything like that, so please don't ask me. I'm only in charge of writing the books and eating all the donuts at the meetings.

I think that's all the useful information I have to give right now.

I'm really grateful that you read my books. I appreciate your time very much. I'm sorry I'm not better a answering emails or go on more book tours, but I'm giving this all I've got as far as I can without being...well...a dad who has no time to annoy his kids. Once in a while I need longer breaks nowadays than I used to, just to handle my stress levels. But I'm doing the best I can with that.

If you stick with me I'll hopefully write stories for many years to come.

Stay annoying.

Your friend,
/Fredrik(less)
