Does anyone know how realistic this is? I read Sanctuary by Paola Mendoza and Abby Sher. Obviously that is a story about how bad things *could* get. I just don't know is this a story of how bad things already are? (I'm about halfway through)

It was also vetted by an immigration lawyer and founder of an organization for asylum seeking young women, to make sure that it made sense and captured what could happen.(less)
