Interestingly like the series on the triology on Tommo and Hawk one of the main female protagonists becomes less likable through the series. The intricacy of history threaded through the book is fascinating, but Ana (who is likable in the Persimmon tree) becomes entirely heartless & evil, and the main male protagonist also becomes a weaker character throughout. Is there any saving grace in either character?
