Sparrow's gender is non-binary (neither a he nor a she), and so Sparrow uses they/them pronouns. They/them pronouns are a common way that many non-binary people choose to refer to themselves, so as not to be incorrectly labeled by restrictive gendered language. If it seems odd to use "they" for a singular person, rather than a plural--its actually a more deep-rooted part of our language than you might think. In fact, instances of singular "they" have been in use since the late 1300s! (less)
