A part of the plot revolves around sexual assault and how a white, rich boy gets off with a minor sentence (this is something that is introduced early in the book). His family are the sort of stereotypical, old money white family that insulate their members from consequences. The main character, Maris, is supposedly a feminist writer who writes many think pieces about white male privilege (especially among the rich). "Racism" against white folks isn't the reason to not read the book. It's a bad, unbelievable book, THAT'S why you should miss it.(less)
