Does it get better? I loved "Grendel" when I was younger, and I opened this book expected something philosophically dense and deeply thought out. But the first chapter, while it had a few powerful passages about the uses of art, mostly felt like the writings of an ageing crank, angrily decrying everything new and modern that he doesn't understand. Opinions on whether it's even worth going on?
