Any idea what explanation Louise and Mark offered the authorities after the end at the house? Did they explain why they and Louise's daughter were in the shape they were in? The ending totally lost me (I wasn't confused, just lost interest).

Why does the opening page and end (the church bulletin) mention Amanda? What is her significance?

ok, Hendrix writes horror, but was anyone actually able to read this whole book? I started skimming partway in, skipped to the end & hadn't missed a thing!

Matt Reardon Agreed with Cristina. Lots of depressing things happen during the book, but it is actually a happy ending.

Was there anything mentioned about how Louise was able to take all of the time away from her job?

She never really mentions falling behind at work or that she is worried about taking time away though. I remember 1 or 2 mentions of trying to check her email, but they end with her not being able to concentrate on them and stopping. You'd think there would be one sentence where she needs to write to her boss or something, but again, I don't think she was actually away for a huge amount of time in the end.(less)
