This looks interesting but I saw this and it has put me off a little "in the bold tradition of Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall" I wasn't able to finish Wolf Hall as I hated the writing. Is this just marketing spin or is the book actually like Wolf Hall?

It's like Wolf Hall in that it's a complicated story about an "outsider," but thus far the plot hasn't skipped around as much, and I've had to do less puzzling things out than I did with Wolf Hall. (I loved Wolf Hall, so the comparison doesn't turn me off, but I think it's mostly hype and rather superficial.)(less)

This looks interesting, but I'm wondering what the novel's approach to Catholicism/Christianity might be? Is it overall respectful, or is the tone scornful/does it paint the idea of faith as ridiculous? I'm totally fine with some exploration of the intersection of divine inspiration and, say, mental health, but scorn would be a turn-off.

Dan IMO there is no scorn, blame, sarcasm, or anything off-putting about any religion in this book.
