This is due to Mr. Amory's writing style - this was written in the 1980's by a well-educated, old school "Proper Bostonian" with a thorough grasp (and use) of the English language device. For those who appreciate a nuanced sense of humor, he fits the bill with a dry, wry, and "tongue-in-cheek" style. As for content, there is nothing "risque" that I can recall, but when touching on events regarding his involvement in Animal Rights, there are some brief references to the real-life violent acts that humans commit toward other species. Personally, I would want all ages to be aware of said cruelties and this book merely mentions a couple of them without going into "gory details." All told, I would say that this is a charming book for any age, so long as the reader is not averse to the style in which it is written.(less)
