Does anybody want the full timeline? It took me three listens but I think I have it all figured out! Feel free to comment if anything is not quite right and I will fix it. It is too long to fit in this question so I will see how much I can get into the comments.

Haley A reason was never fully spelled out, I don't think. When he came to apologize, he did tell her that he had eventually showed up 30 minutes late, but …moreA reason was never fully spelled out, I don't think. When he came to apologize, he did tell her that he had eventually showed up 30 minutes late, but that she had left and blocked his number by that point. When she expressed doubt, he asked why he would lie about that. Given his perpetual tardiness is repeatedly mentioned throughout the book, I got the feeling that we were supposed to take that at face value - he was just late but she had given up and left by the time he finally arrived. At least, that's how I interpreted it :)(less)
