The main character has a woman in his squad that he is very close to, but views her as a sister.

There is an immense amount of violence, but most of it is between mechs and monsters. Sometimes the humans inside the mechs suffer gruesome fates.

There are R-rated levels of profanity, but they are all used as exclamations, not to describe sexual activity.(less)
