Do you have to be JKR levels of famous to get different editions of your work for UK / US markets? Just asking because the number of Americanisms in the text was a bit distracting for a book by a British author, set in England.

I didn't notice the non-British usages particularly, but then I am North American and just read in British. According to Chris Fowler any author can have his/her work translated across the Pond for reader comfort. Some of Chris' audience deliberately bought his books from England in order to read them "in the original". One American reader complained that he wrote in "deep English" so I imagine that the foreignness of the text depends on the reader's own comfort level.(less)
