Kay D Yes, I wondered this too. There are no unicorns in this book.

Wild unicorns are not what are taught in fairytales, they are monstrous and fierce. When an attack happens in the middle of a race, the whole magical world is on the edge with the potential of a new and powerful antagonist rising. Skandar bonds with a unicorn, but a unicorn that possesses forbidden and dangerous magic.

It takes place in our world so it's a urban fantasy! A small island that contains "unicorns" (actually alicorns) in a magic-school like setting. (less)
