She didn't mark where she was and there was no way for her to know which way she came from. Plus, when the Watchers came out that night, they messed with any potential tracks she made on her way in. She could've picked a direction and spent an entire day walking that way (like John), but if she picked wrong, she could've just walked deeper into the woods. (less)
