Heinlein himself, while admittedly having some of the negative attitudes that came with being born in 1907, was a very forward thinking progressive person for his time. Women held positions of power in his novels without it seeming strange or out of place (ie normal in his idea of the future.) He spoke out against racism and all sorts of injustice, but people see the things the characters in his books said and assume he was a terrible sexist pro-rape homophobe.(less)

The themes of incest and relations with teens and also guardian becoming husband to "adopted " child. I am not really about hiding things from children and this book is all in good fun but seriously we could all do with less flower child nonsense right now.(less)
