I think you don't have to be a young adult to appreciate a coming-of-age. Plus, so much of what happened when they were teens needed an adult perspective to sink in. I think that's the difference between an adult coming-of-age and a YA. If it's a YA it's just a story about a couple kids who fell in love, came apart, and then came back together, but as an adult book, it's about how much they messed up as kids, but couldn't realize that until they were adults, and the implication that they still have growing up to do.(less)
Lila Yes they are explicit. I sort of thought they were a little unnecessary too. Not impressed by the book
