When profanity is used, which is never by the two central characters, it is appropriate to the person and situation. I also am bothered by stuff like that, and this is my absolute favorite series of detective fiction. I am currently reading them through in order from the beginning for the second time. While each book can be read individually, they are best read in order because Crais beautifully develops his characters and their friendship and their back stories over the course of the series. Also, the audiobook versions are very well narrated.(less)
