Here's the reason: it contains triggers such as Islamophobia, and racism, and one of the main parts of the plot is in the beginning, when a terrorist attack happens. This hate crime may be triggering to some. There is some profanity in the book as well, so it's best to start reading this at the 8th-grade level, as most websites selling this book suggest. (For instance, ever since 9/11, Muslims, even those born several years after the attack, were subject to severe bullying and harassment and were blamed for the suffering of the victims of the attack.) All three main characters, Sabriya, Zakat, and Farah, are teenage black Muslim girls who struggle with Islamophobia, online bullying and harassment, and threats within their communities because of a terrorist attack by a man with an Arabic name. His religion was not mentioned or figured out by anyone, but people jumped to the conclusion that he was Muslim. I believe this book was written as a way to shed light on Islamophobia and the struggles of being a black Muslim teen in America. The main target audience is black Muslim teens, so that's my explanation. 😊 (Sorry for answering so late. I just got Goodreads in 2023.)(less)
