I thought Lydia lost her baby after getting pregnant once and decided not to try again. But, then this sentence added further confusion in reading this story…. “ After Lydia lost the babies…”. Did she get pregnant again?

The characters confused me… like when Adam is said to be a devout vegetarian, but “polishes off osso buco at Margery’s dinner. Was that because he was too impoverished to have had a decent meal?
