The events in Rainbow Six take place 1 1/2 years after the events in "Debt of Honor" and "Executive Orders." Jack Ryan is still President of the United States. Ryan does not play a significant role in the current novel except to say that John Clark was once Ryan's SPO (Security and Protection Officer or bodyguard), so they know each other well. Various characters interact briefly with John Clark, acting as if they know and trust him 100%... that is, Dan Murray (FBI), Ed Foley (CIA) and Sergey Golovko (Russian SVR, formerly KGB). To know the reason why they trust him so much, you'd have to read the series (or at least the two books I mentioned above), but it is not necessary. (less)
John Cheeseman No you'll be fine reading this as it's sort of on its own. I wouldnt rate it even if you'd read the rest in the series.…moreNo you'll be fine reading this as it's sort of on its own. I wouldnt rate it even if you'd read the rest in the series.(less)
