What is Marie's familial relationship in the book to Eleanor and, separately, to Henry II? In reviews I read that Marie's mother was Eleanor's sister and in another that she is Henry II's half sister.

In the book there is a flashback of Marie's meeting with an elderly Empress Matilda (the wife of Geoffrey, and mother to Henry II, the first Plantagenet king to whom Eleanor was married.) There's all this tension as it's clear Matilda is meeting with a bastard daughter of her husband.

So, to Eleanor, Marie was a half-sibling to her husband, Henry II.(less)
