Her traits and demeanour are very similar to an autistic person and I see myself in her a lot (And honestly, the first female character in fantasy who presents that isn't a 'rain man' or Sheldon Cooper. It's very real to what the average autistic female is like and lightly explains why we display certain traits. It's verrry refreshing). But I don't think it is ever said because there is likely no term for it in the world. So only a comment from the author in creating the character will confirm it :) (less)

There are many many battle scenes, people abusing themselves to subdue spirit that are possessing them, and memories from Artemisia's traumatic past. None of them are gory, however.
As for romance, the book is clean. Spirits don't know if they were male or female in life. Once, a spirit explains that it really doesn't matter to them since the only difference is that a man has "dangly bits" and swing a sword and a woman either has babies or becomes a nun.(less)
