Anna-Marie Mackenzie Though there is a clear protagonist, it is an ensemble. There are gay and Two Spirit characters in the ensemble.

I bought this book a while ago. Just got to reading it. I couldn't get past the first few pages. Every sentence was a simile...."the blah blah blah, like the blah of the blah, went blah. In the blah, like a blah blahhing the blah, the blah was blah. On a blah day, the wind blahhed like a blahhing blah." I had to read them to my husband to confirm I wasn't going crazy. Does it get better? Is it worth pushing through?

Agent Mellin does think something like that when we get a very quick POV from her near the end of the book. He's definitely portrayed that way in general too.(less)
