Why do authors give their main characters cats as pets, when it's not relevant to the plot and all the character does is neglect it? It has bothered me in many books but this has to be the worst. No wonder there are so many cats in shelters and on the streets. Shame on you! Authors should take responsibility and at least put on a disclaimer that if you're not able to take care of your pet, don't adobt one.

There's a mixture of graphic & moderate content warnings for cancer,could you please describe what type of cancer & how cancer is discussed,does it go from diagnosis in detail,to chemo to death or is it less detailed? Thanks
